Real Estate

Buying and selling property whether it's a primary residence, vacation home, or rental property is one of the largest financial investments you'll ever make and can be one of the most stressful projects you may undertake.

Hiring an attorney guarantees that you will receive an unbiased explanation and evaluation for your contract prior to making any commitments. Your real estate attorney will work to negotiate fair and reasonable terms and avoid pitfalls that you may not be aware of without their professional expertise. Legal contracts are complex and may contain provisions that are unenforceable or that create more liability than you realize. Litigating your rights after the fact can take years and cost thousands in legal fees.

About real estate transactions

Properties are normally listed with real estate brokers once a person decides to sell their home. After that, an offer is made and deposit or down-payment is given. If that offer is accepted, the realtor drafts a contract laying out the obligations of all parties involved. Once a contract has been made, this should be looked over by an attorney. Usually, a review period of about 3 days is given. After changes have been negotiated, or the contract has not been contested, it becomes a binding, legal document.
